Complete guide to installing and configuring OTT Player on Android TV devices.
Requirements
- Device with Android TV 7.0 (Nougat) or higher.
- Compatible with: Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi Mi Box, Sony Bravia, Philips, and other Android TV devices.
- Stable Internet connection (WiFi or Ethernet).
- An active OTT Player account.
- At least one M3U/M3U8 playlist uploaded to your account.
How to Install the App
- 1Turn on your Android TV device and make sure it is connected to the Internet.
- 2Open Google Play Store from the main menu.
- 3Use the search function (magnifying glass icon) and type "OTT Player".

- 5Click "Install" and wait for the download to complete.
- 6Once installed, the app will appear in your apps list. Open it.
Note about Android 13+
Starting with Android 13, the operating system restricts access to the device's real MAC address for privacy reasons. In these cases, OTT Player uses a temporary device ID instead of the MAC.
This ID is unique to your app installation, but it may change if:
- You factory reset the device.
- You uninstall and reinstall the app.
- You clear the app data.
Recommendation: avoid performing these actions to keep the same ID and not lose the link to your account.
How to Find the MAC Address
- 1Open the OTT Player app on your Android TV.
- 2The MAC address or device ID will be displayed on the main screen.
- 3Alternative: go to Settings > Network & Internet > [Your WiFi/Ethernet network] > Advanced to view the MAC.
- 4Write down the identifier shown.
Register Your Android TV
- 1Log in to your OTT Player account from the web panel.
- 2Go to the "Devices" section and click "Add Device".
- 3Enter the MAC address or ID you obtained from your Android TV.
- 4Assign a descriptive name (e.g., "Nvidia Shield Living Room").
- 5Select the playlist you want to assign.
- 6Save the changes.
- 7On your Android TV, restart the OTT Player app.
- 8The playlist will load automatically.
Common Issues and Solutions
The app does not appear in Google Play Store
Verify that your device has Android TV 7.0 or higher. Some devices with Android (not Android TV) may not show the app. Try searching for "OTTPLAYER" without spaces. You can also install the APK manually if your device allows it.
Streams do not load or there is buffering
Check your Internet connection. If using WiFi, try moving closer to the router or use an Ethernet connection. Restart the device. Verify that the playlist URLs are active.
Codec or unsupported format error
Android TV generally supports H.264, H.265, and VP9. However, exact support depends on your device's hardware. Budget devices may not support H.265. Check the specifications for your model.
The ID/MAC changes when reinstalling the app
On Android TV with recent versions, the MAC address may not be available. A temporary device ID is used instead. Avoid factory resets or reinstalling the app to keep the same ID.
The app closes unexpectedly
Make sure you have enough storage space. Go to Settings > Apps > OTT Player > Clear cache. Verify that your device firmware is up to date.
